Background

In 2004 Laureen Deibert and Gena Januseski started Love Inc in an effort to keep seniors with Alzheimer's Disease busy and their lives active with various programs. The word quickly spread around Charleston that these 2 giving women were donating their time to those in need, and Love Inc grew around them. The Board of Directors was formed; they filed for their 501(C)3 and never looked back. Love Inc started the companionship & Adopt-A-Grandparent programs and the clients followed quickly. Soon, Laureen was playing music with Robin Shuler at various assisted living homes in the area and Annie Bass came forward with Sit 'n Fit. More volunteers were coming forth and many great ideas came with them. Love Inc. now has 9 programs rounding out the organization, all free to those in need. Laureen is still running Love Inc, while Gena married and moved to New York.
-
Adopt-a-Grandparent: Our goal is to pair a volunteer with a senior citizen who is in need of either assistance or companionship. This is for very serious volunteers only.
-
Companionship Services: We will come to your home and sit with you, read to you, play checkers, or whatever passes the time.
-
Respite Services: We will come and relieve the caretaker for small periods of time for a much needed time away.
-
Family Support - We assist families with the anguish and uncertainty having to adjust and/or alter their living situations; i.e. from home to a Board and Care, Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing Home.
-
Acts of Kindness: We spread kindness where we see it needed, giving trips to concerts, giving away motorized wheelchairs, anything that can bring a smile.
-
Music 'round Town: We play guitars and sing old time favorites all over - Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, James Island, even Hollywood. We are always looking for others to join!
